To celebrate the connection between disco and hip hop, Funk Deli wants to share this classic Joe Bataan track with you. “Rap O Clap O” wasn’t a big hit in the states, but the single shot to the top of the charts in Europe.
Joe Bataan was critical to the establishment of the Salsoul Disco label. Mr. Afro-Filipino recorded “Rap O Clap O” back in 1979. It’s a fun track that can’t be taken too seriously, but it’s a wonderful illustration of the debt that hip hop owes to disco music.
