Call it funk, call it disco, call it uplifting, mood-changing music. However you categorize this group, Brass Construction is one of the greatest funk bands of all time.

This band embodies the spirit of funk music — the beat, the horns, the get down and boogie quality of it all. Funk is an attitude. An expression of what it means to forget your worries and jam out to thumping, floor-shaking grooves. It’s a happy, carefree perspective masquerading as music.

Brass Construction combines funky basslines with spacey synths and heavy doses of horns. If you’ve never heard of this Brooklyn-based ensemble, do yourself a favor and pick up their first album. Brass Construction 5 is another classic that needs to be in your vinyl collection.
