Gino Soccio — Try It Out

9:33 am Funky Music, Funky Videos, Welcome to the Disco

Here’s an old music video for Gino Soccio’s classic jam “Try it Out.” At the end of the 1970s, when Americans were getting over their disco dreams and moving on to other music genres, the Euros picked up the disco torch and kept on producing quality disco music. The Canadians got in on the action too. Gino Soccio is by far Canada’s most valuable contribution to the Disco era.

Soccio started producing disco music under the name Kebekelektrik (which I just recently learned is pronounced “Quebec Electric”). He put out some quality dance tracks like “War Dance” and “Magic Fly.” Once he started releasing albums under his own name, tracks like “Dancer” propelled Gino to the top of the dance charts.

Check out Gino Soccio’s bio at the Disco Museum to learn more about this talented, fu manchued music producer.
