Hey funkateers, the New year is here and it’s time to save a bundle on party services! Alive and Sound, an audio and visual hire company based in the U.K., is offering up some great deals on party equipment setups. You can get up to 20% off their party hire services. Alright Funk Deli fans, 2008 is almost here! To celebrate the New Year we’re gonna close out Disco December with a bang. When you’re gathering for your New Year’s Eve festivities, don’t reach for lousy tunes — cuz tonight your gonna party like it’s 1978!
That’s right, 2007’s ending on a high note — a disco note.
Check out this 1978 New Year’s Eve mix by Tom Savarese on the Million Dollar Disco site.
To put you in the right mood, the mix starts with a chill, soulful intro. Start the party slow. Pace yourself. Grab your honey and just kick back and dance it up close. It’s a perfect introduction to an evening of disco madness.
By minute 12, the mix starts to pick up a bit — just in time for you to get your boogie on. As the mix begins to bounce, the pace of your New Year’s Eve party will pick up.
Thirty minutes into DJ Tom Savarese’s mix, there should be full-on dance floor grinding going on. We’re talkin’ end of the year get down-style.
Just when the energy of the mix starts to dwindle — in comes Gene Chandler with his classic track “Get Down” (yea, there’s a theme here). The one hour and nineteen minute mix finishes strong, setting the tone for a perfect end to 2007.

This posh club serves up disco jams, soulful funk, house music, jazzy sets, afro-hip hop fusion beats and tasty Mediterranean food. Con Funk Shun will be performing on Friday November 23 at the House of Blues in New Orleans. If you’re anywhere near the Bayou, you need to catch these guys live. Con Funk Shun churned out album after album during the late 70s and early 80s. This quality funk ensemble never failed to deliver the goods. Still going on strong after all these years, Con Funk Shun will be paired with DJ Soul Sister for Friday Night’s Bayou Classic Throwdown. On Wednesday, December 5 and Thursday, December 6, Cut Chemist will be performing live with Edan at the Silent Movie Theatre in Hollywood. The funkified master turntablist has made quite a splash in recent years. Evolving from a complimentary on-stage DJ, collaborator, producer, beat maker, remixer, Cut Chemist has now emerged as a full-fledged, top-billed entertainer in his own right.
Cut Chemist started slicing beats for Unity Committee in the early 90s. When UC merged with the Rebels of Rhythm, Jurassic 5 was born. Cut Chemist built up a serious following while spinning and producing for Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli.
